Our Roots…

Guthrie Cattle Company was founded on two components- dreams and grit.

Craig and Mattie Guthrie reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado with their five young children. Craig, originally from Oregon, is an active-duty soldier with the United States Army and a member of USASOC who is stationed at Fort Carson. Craig's family is heavily involved in farming and agriculture back in Oregon. Mattie is a fourth generation rural Arizonan. Her family has roots in Colorado, ranching in the Ridgway area for several generations. Mattie earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Master of Science in Agricultural Education from the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Mattie has worked in production agriculture in various endeavors, including for commercial cattlemen and seedstock producers. Her true passion lies in cattle reproduction, genetics and health and in feeding American families.

When our children were born, we wanted them to be raised loving the outdoors as we do. We wanted to encourage strong work ethics and foster an appreciation and a knowledge of how cattlemen draw nutrition and feed families off of the land while maintaining good stewardship. We wanted to use our knowledge, skills, experiences and grit to start an operation that would proudly serve families and cattlemen.

We run this operation as a family. We spend many long nights and early mornings out on the range, with our children. We strive to think out of the box to offer the best seedstock animals and beef to serve cattlemen and families. We have a deep respect for the land, for the cattlemen who work the land, and for families who are fed off of the land. Thank you for sharing your time with us!
